Laura Ziegler was an American artist who lived and worked in Lucca, Italy for most of her life. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Laura Ziegler exhibited extensively in the midwest before joining Knoedler Galleries in New York after World War II. Sculpture by Laura Ziegler may be seen at the Cincinnati and Columbus museums of art in Ohio, at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington and at the Brooklyn Museum, the Neuberger Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Works by Laura Ziegler have been acquired by the collections of John D. Rockefeller, Nelson Rockefeller, Thomas Messer, John Hay Whitney, William Paley, Alfred Barr and the Lazarus’ of Columbus, among others. Laura Ziegler is a member of the National Academy of Design, and her work is shown regularly at the Academy.
